Best cricket quotes of 2005
Cricinfo have published an entertaining summary of the best cricket quotes of 2005. They're all great but I've picked a few of my favs such as Digicel's chairman commenting on the West Indies extracurricular activities as they toured Australia:
"If they had scored as many runs as they had women's phone numbers during the tour, West Indies would have won the series comfortably."Ian Botham commented on Andrew Nel's aggressive sledging which we're now encountering first hand:
"He must enjoy playing cricket ... by the end of most games he can't have any match fee left. And lastly, a classic from Kevin Pietersen:
"It's a catch-21 situation."This is a guy who sledged South African crowds for not being able to speak English.

My fave quote from yesterday's ABC coverage was "the umpires have had a great match so far...". Presumably, this now means that they haven't made any monumental balls-ups during the game??

Only one screw-up that comes to mind - Andrew Symond's first LBW of Rudolph. The Pakistani new guy hasn't made an error yet which is impressive. Even Bucknor has done okay - there was a Brett Lee bouncer yesterday that flicked the shirt. But the way Gilchrist and the slip cordon went up (not to mention Brett Lee nearly bursting a vein), even I was convinced it was out till we saw the replay. Still, I kinda hope they screw up just so it'll hurry the trend towards more technology in umpiring.
BTW, I love the South African ringer the ABC commentary have on the radio - forget his name but his voice is great on the radio (I particularly like the way he rolls his R's).

I have a historic question: Can you tell me if the infamous 'What else do you expect from a nation of ex convicts' comment which is attributed to Ian Bothan or Mike Gatting was really voiced during an ashes tour or if it is fictional.
If true it would be a real classic.
Great website by the way

Andrew Flintoff is way to fat and unfit to ever have an illustrious career, sure he comes up with the odd good performance but hes never consistent.
