Australia vs India, Boxing Day Test, Day 3

Day 2 saw Australia take charge of the 1st Test (Cricinfo have a nice summary of the Day 2 highlights). However, despite being rolled for 180, there were ominous signs from Tendulkar, Ganguly and Laxman. So while normally, Australia would probably declare half an hour before stumps on Day 3, my prediction is Australia will bat through to Day 4 (unless they're dismissed), declaring before lunch.

ABC's Kerry O'Keefe & Harsha Bogle have just pointed out that India only play well when they're favourites and 'Straya only fail when they get under serious pressure as favourites - juicy stuff, should get this post going a bit, eh!

I always love when they pair the tourist commentator with Kerry O'Keefe and listen to him wondering what the hell Skull is talking about.

I also liked it when O'Keefe blamed our 2005 Ashes loss on a bad umpiring decision. Harsha sounded like all his Christmases had come at once.

I really miss bill lawry these days becoz here in india we didnt get channel 9 commentary team. Bill is my all time favourite commentator. Also miss tony and richie. Thanks to STAR CRICKET i am not missing ian chappel. Talking abt cricket i think india should play positive cricket without worrying about the outcome. Who is Kerry O'Keefe plz tell me.

Kerry was an Aussie test 1970's leg spinner and batman who is now on the public speaking circuit, a radio commentator and author of lighthearted cricket books. Famous for his infectious laugh and silly ramblings. Not a massive turner of the ball but had his moments. His 20-odd tests were spread out over 7 years!

BTW Jatinder, you may be able to get a live stream from the ABC Grandstand site during the game - don't know if they allow it to go outside of Aus but it's worth a try...

Another top day of cricket and I wouldn't write off the Indians just yet. A bold declaration which I hope doesn't backfire.

Some excellent bowling, out of character batting, excessive appealing, lousy fielding, Symonds comprehensively bowled off a no-ball then recipient of a dubious lbw, a Gilly reverse sweep, some responsibility by Michael Clarke, a rare double failure by Ponting. And two sixes from Hoggy!!

Expect things to start happening when the effects of the big roller wear off after the first 30 minutes or so tomorrow.

Jatinder, recommend you search further for a favourite commentator mate. Try one with two eyes for a start.

First of all thanks for providing so much information about Kerry O'Keefe. I never really heard about him earlier however i know all the greats from australia right the first test from 1882.I will try all the links. Thanks again. Anyways talking about cricket i think india's chances are very very very less. I hope they will play positive cricket nothing else only a miracle can safe them now. Dan Tas. Is this your real name? Nice to know you. BILL is my all time favourite. I started listening bill 15 years ago when i was just 9 years old in an INDIA-AUSSIE match in world cup 1992 in GABBA. India lost that match by a run if u remember. Nobody can match his passion for the game specially when australia is playing. And the special words he he use during the commentry like BANGGGGGGGGG, its a ripper, Its all happenening here at the SCG. And whenever some ball goes into the air he says( THAT SHOULD BE OUT THAT WILL BE OUT HE IS OUT). Really love his style. I wish i could meet him and tell him that i really love his style and i can travel miles hear it! WHO IS YOUR FAVOURITE BTW?

Jatinder, Dan is my name and I live in Tasmania which is the important part of Australia at the very bottom.

Therefore Dan Tas.

I am very surprised that Bill Lawry has a huge fan outside Australia because he is so biased toward Australia!! Even Australians can be a bit embarrassed about his commentary.

Kerry O'Keefe is a favourite of mine. He is very funny but his sense of humour is a strange one. And he has a funny laugh.

On television I enjoy listening to Ian Chappell because I think he makes good, intelligent sense. And he doesn't always agree with everyone else. Speaks his mind, just like he did when he was a player.

Cheers.

Dan its really nice to meet some aussie cricket fan who knows the game so well. Indians have very bad memory about chappell. U know what i am talking about yes GREG chappell. He was given a very tough task infact the most difficult task in the game that is to COACH team india. Like IAN CHAPPELL i also agree with the fact the coach hardly matters to a team success. But i was really not impressed by the way greg handled our team. He keep on doing experiments without any reasons by saying that we preparing for the WORLD CUP 2007. May be he wasnt keen to adapt indian style and was trying to handle it in aussie way but that is just not possible. Anyways talking about this brother IAN he is really an ICON to me. I am one of his biggest fans. His approach and style towards the game is really remarkable. He really speaks from his heart and most of times he is right. He is never biased like BILL LAWRY and MICHEAL HOLDING. Even our commentators like RAVI SHASTRI AND SUNNY GAVASKER gets emotional sometimes. Talking about BILL please dont take him wrongly its his love for australia that comes out and its not his fault some people are born that way. Many times tony graig makes fun of him in commentary box becoz BILL is always edgy in the commentary box whenever australia is in trouble. But his style of commentary is really unique and words he use puts so much spice in the game that u dont wanted to leave your seats. Thats why i like him. U like any indian commentator? Whats your view about harsha bhogle? Sorry our very own harsha bhogle becoz everybody knows him in india! Plz reply!
