Australia v India - 4th Test, Day 4

With Australia cruising towards India's first innings total, Day 4 is shaping up to be the calm before the storm. Will today feature Adam Gilchrist's last Test innings? Will Australia set a total? Most importantly, how will India respond in the 2nd innings? Australia will most likely declare late in the day then throw everything but the kitchen sink at the opening batsmen before stumps. Should be a frenetic last session.

Ohhhhh enough of this spirit of the game! Lets concentrate on some cricket now!Aussies are just 47 behind! 3 hours more to go lets see what happens?

India appealing at everything today. No more moral high ground left about the "spirit of the game" I'm afraid.

Clarke playing an innings of character. Uncharacteristic. The Sydney furore might have done him a lot of good.

Neither of these teams deserve to win this test match. They have both played "not to lose cricket" instead of "must win cricket" (not mention the crucial dropped/missed catches). In essence this is a 1/2 victory to India as they reduced AUSTRALIA to their cricketing mindset.can't think of another test playing nation able to do this. the Sha-man has been 1 of the best on the field and deserves a big rap. Hope India don't over bowl him on those hot dust bowl wickets. He's a definate star for the future.

Gilly was the best ever and tomorrow @ stumps the game of test cricket has devalued.

If only India would stop believing their own press & play the cricket that they should be capable of on a consistant basis, then we'll all be better off.

One good game in Perth & you would think THEY had just won 16 straight!

Unfortunately, they are just a team of lazy stars who happen to get it right every now & then.

Interesting article pasted on a security blog Beast or Buddha!

Old story but I reckon close to the ultimate teams. I would have had Hussey in there!

Unfortunately this series result will not reflect on who really dominated. India's fighting spirit after losing the first test and again after being robbed of a victory at Sydney was tremendous.

I have lost all respect for Aussie commentators after listening to the trash dished out on Channel 9. A person like Ian Healy is a shame for Australians as a whole. He alone would have jeopardised the chances of many aspiring Aussies who wanted to make some money out of Indian leagues.

Turn it up mate, if I understood Hindi or could pick up any of the Indian commentary just going on Sunil Gavaskar's 'enlightening' commentary & articles through this series I'd quite confidently say Ian Healy's patriotic commentary would absolutely pale into insignificance.
If any of the Indian league's turned their backs on a player based on some Australian commentary instead of the individual talent of that player then that would just prove my theory.
That theory being that based on some of the things I've heard in this blog & during this series that Indian cricket fans/officials/players are some of the biggest whingers in the forum of world sport.
Time to toughen up.

Healy is a disgrace Mike...

The commentators job is to call the game evenly - agree that Gavaskar is a joke as well

I am sick of him saying "We need a wicket" or how great the Aussies are - the Channel 9 comm. team apart from Taylor, Bill Lawry, Richie and Chappeli is just overtly biased to the Australian cricket team..

Slats is a bit of a lovable idiot and Nicholas is just an idiot...

I put Grieg and Healy in the complete muppet category...

Best commentary from Healy - "I don't care if that pitched outside leg, that was plumb" - Brett Lee bowling to Sachin

Great knowledge of the game Heals...

Heals, you have been retired for 10 yrs...

Varghese if you get ABC Grandstand wherever you are on the radio - do what I do

Put the TV on mute and listen to the radio, it is how cricket commentary should be...

Am I the only one who noticed that the pitch for the Perth test, in particular, appeared to have been imported from the sub-continent? I seem to remember that only a few short weeks before the Perth test the wicket was definitely getting it's old 'bite' back. The wicket for the Perth test, according to those high-tech umpire assassins in the Channel 9 commentary box, had only 'reasonable carry'. Considering the undoubted class of the Australian quicks, not to mention how hard they obviously toiled, we saw few of the Indian batsmen hopping and ducking as one could reasonably expect. I don't believe this issue of foreign teams finding home wickets on Australian soil, as I believe has been the case particularly in the last few years, should go away.

Oops - India out bowled Australia in Perth...

I dont care about pitches - Melbourne was sub-continental and we won easily there...

So I think the series result was spot on good to see no-one going on about this as a great result for us, I had my money on 3-0 or 4-0 at the start of the series mate.

So hopefully Nielsen and co. will work out where we need to improve and take the team forward - the key has to be how we are going to consistently get 20 wickets...
