Sri Lanka vs India 11th CUB ODI

After being given a lifeline on Sunday night, Sri Lanka play for their lives today. Ishant Sharma (aka Mr Send-off) has already made in-roads but Jayasuriya has made a start and is looking dangerous. Can he and Sangers bat India out of the game? Live scorecard

Where's this Kumar come from?? He's made some pretty established senior batsmen look rather average.

Zaheer, Ishant, Munaf, Sreesanth, RP, Irfan and now Praveen Kumar. VRV is hurling the cherry at 145+ in the cricket fields in Punjab and regularly scalping 5+ victims...VRV will be back soon with his venom...the pace battery looks very very promising... On the other hand the concern for australia is burning out..the same three pacers playing all formats, all the games, for the whole season... their tiredness is showing... Lee is showing a faint sign of burn-out, Clark has become a pedestrian who puts kids into lullaby... johnson seems to be lost and confused... Tait? we know what happened.. Infusion of fresh blood is not a luxury anymore, it's a necessity....GOOD LUCK

CONGRATS TO INDIAN TEAM FOR RECORDING THE MOST CONVINCING WIN IN THE TOURNAMENT SO FAR....

No argument .. well documented. What disappoints me although is the fact that we burn these bowlers till they break down and then get in the standby. Isnt that a illogical way to deal with these things ? I would love to see Ishant catch up with some rest, mebbe an off during the SA-India Test series. Give VRV a chance there, and mebbe zaheer and RP back into the fold. We need to rotate them all ... else its gonna be the same story.

And yes, Aussies are gonna have a tuf time tis' year, would like to see Lee get an extended break, he deserves it. He was the best in sight, but still, rest from the Pakistan series makes sense. No need for him to labour on those dead pancake surfaces ... instead unlease noffke or hilfy. And trust your batting resources to pull you through !!!

Calm down No A. Munaf isn't half the bowler he was 2 years ago v the Poms. Everyone has their ups and downs. The difference is India are prepared to give young guys a go, whereas Australia don't seem as keen. Their bowling stocks are good, but why bust up a winning formula? And your statement about Clark is the silliest I've had the misfortune to read. Johnson lost and confused? Open the other eye.

You should be more concerned at India's inability to manage their fast bowling injuries. Same as the Pasties - bring them back quick so they break down again.

Hayden calling Bhajji "Obnoxious Weed". And Hayden? That "ancient Banyan Tree" .... the doyen of wisdom as endless as Atlantic Ocean...whose sagacity knows no bound...

Hayden's a legend, and entitled to his opinion. No one has to agree with it.

try watching new zealand vs england, much more entertaining than never-ending tri series

agree with that one symo. watched every ball, it's far more entertaining. And the chief slogger then goes and punches a toilet door window in. Great stuff.

and he's out for 3 months .... voila !!!

jaradevans , people are entitled to opinions but are expexted to be responsible about when and how they air them.

It is sheer stupidity to convey opinions on opponents on a radio station. This is one thing Indian cricketrs learn very young not to be flimsy with the media.

golandaaz

As opposed to Indian Captains calling their opponents bad sportsman and cheats, because India lost the game?

Or Indian captains blaming one of their players for the run out?

I just heard Hayden's radio comment and I think its blown out of proportion by the media to sell its copies.

Although I hate Hayden and Symonds, I think he was just having a casual conversation with the host and the host was playing up to the sentiments of the listeners. Hayden says it as a matter of fact. Something that he simply believes in. Not with an intent to denigrate Indian team. Have we come to a point where we can't even take a joke well.

I wish Indians also learnt English well, and throw Australians off their feet. It is perfectly possible if people like Harbhajan grow some brains. And after watching the summer's cricket, I don't think anymore that Australian team holds huge advantage over other teams. At best they are flat track bullies (like almost every other team), and their bowling, apart from lee, is only restrictive.

Jeez golandaaz, if you really believe that then you've never ever watched television or listened to the radio. That's the whole point about subjectivity. People don't HAVE to be responsible about what they say. Just so long as they are prepared to cop the consequences of WHAT they say.

jaradevans,

Mathew Hayden is a sports star not someone like you and me. And if he chooses to speak like you and me, he will lose respect. Or at the very least create divisions.

Saying that only "one team was playing with the spirit of the game" or saying "i would have complete the run even with the cramps" is different from calling someone "weeds". In the earlier 2 cases there was no name calling involved. Australia were not called "cheats". Even if the indication is the same there is a diplomatic way of saying things.

Hayden could have used more constraint in choosing his words. That's all I am saying.
Posted by golandaaz on 2008-02-28 12:30:08
You casting dispersions on my sporting ability golandaaz??!!!

nothing wrong with that mate. but so long as someone's prepared to take the backlash resulting from what they say. I don't think you can differentiate between a sportsperson and anyone else - do they live by a separate set of rules than you or I? In some eyes, Hayden's already lost respect. But as i've said elsewhere, you don't have to take any notice of it. It's not as if these guys are world leaders or humanitarians. They're given "star" status in the media because people choose to listen to what they've got to say. If no one gave a toss, it wouldn't be an issue.
