India vs Australia, 4th Test, Day 1

So we enter the 4th and last Test with India 1-0 up. Australia must win this match or lose the series. Can Ricky Ponting shed his usual defensive captaincy style? Can the Australian bowlers take the requesite 20 wickets? Can they exploit the slight opening given by Gambhir's suspension? Personally, I don't see it happening but hope to be proven wrong.

In a sense, this Test should be a good indication of times to come - have India risen to supremacy in Test cricket, toppling the world champions? Australia still have plenty of batting talent but the bowling resources are painfully thin, particularly in the spin department. Live score courtesy of Cricinfo

Well one thing is for sure, with no Stuart Clark, Indian run rate is going to be high. I don't see Lee, Johnson, Jason, Watson or White bowling 30 overs for 62 runs.

1 more question. Can Sehwag score a century before lunch

Dravid in. Now the score should slow down a bit. By the way, I really think it was negative tactics for Aussies to continue with white. I think this is done not for his bowling ability but for his ability

Dravid gone. Whats wrong with him. Send him back to Ranji and A team to find his form.

Krezja gets his 1st Test wicket, Rahul Dravid, 4 overs into his 1st Test. You wouldn't knock that back as a debut bowler.

Still, Krezja has conceded 42 runs in his first 5 overs. The Indians are really targeting the new spinner. They're looking at a 350+ day here (plus Ponting is unlikely to give Krezja more than half a dozen overs for the whole innings).

Holy crap, Krezja just got Sehwag out bowled!

Australia, we've just found our new Shane Warne.

Nah, just kidding, he's just an offie, they barely count. Sure has had an interesting start though - got caned and two wickets in his first spell.

Sehwag goner. India in trouble. Why did'nt the Aussies play Krejza earlier

Kreja is hitting the spots.. which are getting wider and wider.. Looks like this test will go the way the spinners want. Bhajji is licking his palms, itching to bowl. It may not be far away, if India folds down..

Hopefully this Test will have a result - I'd rather Australia had a crack and forced a result than the game peetered out to a draw. 3 wickets in the 1st session is a good indication that the pitch will favour the spinners so will be a big challenge for our batsmen.

Kreja is not bad at all. Even if the pitch is helpful, to bowl right into the powdery spots to batsmen famous for playing spin is no mean feat.

Where is White. Will he even get a bowl today

hmmm,,aussies must be relieved after the sehwags dismissal.no ifs and buts in cricket, lets see if 10dulkr and lxman does something good today..i wish kreija keeps his run rate going the same and india doesnt loose cheap wickets to him and make him an idol in australia..who knows anything can happen..imagine kreija taking 10 wickets in this match, hehe.then i might have to stop watching cricket!!!!!!

I don't mind 10 wickets but it should be 10 for 500 runs

Purush, I wouldn't get too worried about Krezja. He's a finger spinner. They're a poor man's wrist spinner.

Laxman and Tendulkar have put on 108 runs. I can feel this Test series slipping from our fingers.

Too early to say JC. India need 500 on this wicket to feel safe and we are only on 234

12235dulkar nearing another 90s. Nervous times. Aussies must be looking for another break
Posted by ssukhdial on 2008-11-06 20:37:38
Well well, 12238dulkar did give his customary chance, but Johnson make Kangroo curry out of it. Now I am looking forward to his 40th century.

Ponting idiot captain, Krazier wheres he been? Same place McGill was when Warnie was taking 40 wickets against the Poms in England. Sitting on the side line!!!
